Guide
Using your Stingray Hunter
Your device arrives with Rayhunter installed, tested and ready. Here's everything it can do.
Reading the screen
Power the device on and wait for it to connect. A green line means Rayhunter has seen nothing unusual. A red line means it saw behavior associated with cell-site simulators. Keep it with you in a bag, pocket or car for continuous monitoring.
If the line turns red
Depending on your situation, consider turning off your phone until you're out of the area, and tell the people with you. Then download the capture (below) so there's a record of what the device saw.
Downloading the logs
- On your phone or laptop, join the device's Wi-Fi network. The network name and password are shown on its screen.
- Open a browser and go to this address:
http://192.168.1.1:8080
Use the web page to download the packet capture (pcap) file. Open it in any pcap tool, such as Wireshark, or email it to me and I'll analyze it for you.
Manual recordings
Double-tap the power button to start a packet capture, and double-tap again to stop.
Updates
When an important Rayhunter update is released I'll email you. Buy the update service and mail the device to me; I'll install the latest version, test it and send it back.
