About Rayhunter
Rayhunter is an open-source tool developed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) designed to detect cell-site simulators (CSS) "Stingrays" - surveillance devices that can track and intercept mobile communications.
Device Features
- Instantly detect potential cellular surveillance
- Simple, user-friendly interface
- Real-time monitoring of cellular network activity
- Downloadable network logs for further analysis
How It Works
The Rayhunter device continuously monitors cellular network activity to detect potential surveillance. Simply power on the device, and the status indicator will show a green line when everything is normal. If the device detects suspicious cellular activity that may indicate a cell-site simulator, the indicator will turn red, alerting you to possible surveillance. When this happens, connect to the device's WiFi access point using your phone or computer to access detailed logs through the web interface. The device works passively and requires no technical knowledge to operate—just keep it powered on in your bag, vehicle, or nearby location for continuous protection against unauthorized cellular surveillance.
Technical Details
- Compatible with 4G networks
